Jaci Velasquez Stars as Sadie in VeggieTales New 'Noah's Ark' Film; Said Experience was Better Than a GRAMMY

Longtime CCM artist Jaci Velasquez is part of the new VeggieTales movie "Noah's Ark," and will be providing the voice of Sadie, Noah's son Shem's wife.

In an interview with NewReleaseTuesday, Velasquez said she was approached to do the film by none other than Larry the Cucumber (Mike Nawrocki) himself. She said "Yes, of course" without thinking, and then was thrilled to tell her children about it.

"I was trying to explain to my 5 year old that mommy is a vegetable on the VeggieTales movie. He goes, 'No way. No mommy, you're not. That's silly'. He watched it and afterwards he came up to me and he said, 'Mommy, I'm so proud of you'. I was like, 'Thank you'," said admitted.

Interestingly enough, the singer said being in VeggieTales was something on her bucket list, and is in even higher regard than "A Grammy" or "A Dove Award."

Velasquez said in the movie Sadie and Shem just got married and are now being told to get on the boat with Noah after they were looking to make a life with each other. "They have to trust that he's hearing from God and they have to be obedient and it's all like the great lesson as parents that we want to impart into our kids and we do the best we can, but sometimes it takes animation and vegetables to do a job that we can't do..."

She said the character of Sadie is "strong" but also "knows her place" as a Biblical wife. "I [Sadie] have to stand by whatever my husband wants to do and wherever he wants to go and I'm going to go with him, but yet still going I just don't feel like this is right. I don't agree with it necessarily, Shem, but I'm not going to not be with you and go with you and do what you're saying. It was a great lesson I think just across the board for females, for all of us."

Other than the film Velasquez said she is working on a new album and also a film, but keeping "family first."

Back on September 6, the singer appeared on an episode of "Renovation Realities" with her husband Nic Gonzales on the DIY Network.

The premise of the show was to see the homeowners put their renovation skills to the test. In this episode the pair will be trying to take down their front deck and rebuild it as cameras follow along.

"I had an incredible and a less than incredible experience at the same time. Is that even possible?!," Velasquez explained laughing according to a press release, "I got to know things about my husband Nic that I never knew before doing the show. We bonded over so much, and I had no idea that so many things could go wrong - all at the same time. The best part about the show was working with my husband. The worst part? The heat, working with my husband, the bugs, working with my husband, and the sweating-oh my gosh the sweating....! Would I do this again? Let's just say I haven't gone outside for an extended period of time since the renovations. But what I learned is priceless!"

Velasquez has three Platinum albums, three certified Gold albums, 16 number one singles, six singles in the top 10, seven Dove Awards, two Latin Grammy Award nominations, and three Grammy Award nominations.
