iPod Touch 6G Release Date, Features, Rumors: Device Releases October 2014? Similar iPhone 6 Design

Following the successful launch of iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and Apple Watch on the recently-concluded Apple Keynote Conference 2014, tech gurus speculate that iPod Touch 6G is likely to be released in October 2014 together with the unveiling of iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.

It has been two years since Apple last manufactured iPod Touch 5G, which leads experts to think that now is the best time for the Cupertino tech giant to reinvent the device alongside with a few other releases this year.

No solid confirmation has been announced yet, but sources like Gotta Be Mobile claim that with a whole new design for iPhone 6, it is likely that iPod Touch 6G will also come out with a revamped look.

Notably, the upcoming addition to the iPod Touch lineup is expected to bear the same features as fifth generation devices, such as a slim hardcase, Siri, and iSight. It will also come in a variety of colors trademark to Apple's iPod devices.

It is also reported that Apple will be incorporating fingerprint recognition and tighter security features not to mention, it is expected to run on iOS 8.

While it seems that iPod Touch 6G might get overshadowed by the public's response to iPhone 6, it is highly likely that Apple will integrate selected features from iPod Touch 5G, iPhone 5s, and iPhone 5c, into the new device

Interestingly, iPod Touch sales have considerably suffered a 52 percent decline in 2013, according to The Verge. This is despite the fact that Apple still owns 70 percent of the market share on MP3 players in the United States.
