iPhone 8 Release Date, Rumors & Leak: Wireless Charging Technology Confirmed With New Acquisition?

The rumors about the iPhone 8 being equipped with wireless charging technology have been going around for some time now. But the recent news about Energous investing $10 million into Dialog Semiconductor lends credence to all the talks.

Energous CEO Steve Rizzone said, in a report from Fast Company, "We're actually transferring all of our silicon operations to Dialog. All the Energous technology will be sold under the Dialog branding and all sales orders will be going through Dialog. It'll take us about 90 days to do all that."

This bit of news might be overlooked, considering the investment is relatively small. However, not many people know it but Dialog's core business is providing component products for the Cupertino-based company.

The merger would make Energous and Dialog a force to contend with in terms of being a third-party supplier of Apple. What makes this interesting is the fact that Energous has reportedly perfected the technology for wireless charging.

This would bolster the earlier news and rumors about the new iPhone 8 being able to charge from as far as 15 feet without cable. That means the user can make calls or play with the phone without being tied down to a wire and electric socket. If this is true, this would be revolutionary for Apple's anniversary smart phone.

Ming-Chi Kuo already speculated earlier that the switch by Apple from metal to glass casing would be to support the wireless charging technology.

Apple's smartphone's lineup, iPhone 8 will be released in September next year.
