iPhone 6S Specs News: iPhone 6S Camera Features 12 Megapixel Photos, 4k Video Recording and Selfie Flash

The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus has featured major revamps to their camera systems. The biggest excitement has been caused by news that the cameras' megapixel count is being upgraded for the first time since 2011 when the iPhone 4S was launched.

Sources say the iPhone 6 8-megapixel camera sensor will now be a custom imager of 12-megapixels, which means the upgraded phones will be able to take photos that are larger and of a higher resolution.

It's not clear as to whether the sensor is actually 12-megapixel native, or a 13-megapixel sensor cropped for digital image stabilization purposes, however.

Another piece of exciting technological news according to sources is that due to an upgraded image signal processor, part of the new A9 system-on-a-chip, the new sensor won't wash or decrease the photos quality.

The boosted-up rear still camera of the new iPhones will be accompanied by equally enhanced video recording with the previous 1080p capability bumped up to 4k video recording support.

This will make them the first iPhones to offer such high res videoing capabilities, not to mention two of the first phones on the market.

This upgrade means, among other things, compatibility with the latest consumer television sets, improved stability and clarity and post-production editing.

The front FaceTime camera will also receive boosts including an upgraded sensor for higher quality video calls and selfies and front flash support.

Taking cues from Snapchat and Photo Booth, the screen will light up with a quick white screen at a touch of the shutter button.

Two more exciting front camera features will probably be front-facing panorama shots and slow motion video in 720P.

Other exciting features of the phones themselves will include a Force Touch display that focuses on short cutting features around iOS 9, new animated wallpaper similar to Apple Watch's, a faster A9 processor featuring improved graphics for gaming and video content and increased efficiency in the new phones' Qualcomm-built cellular chips.

The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus was launched on 9th September in San Francisco in conjunction with the next - generation Apple TV.
