Ian Somerhalder is proving to be quite supportive of Nikki Reed as he takes their budding romance to Twitter.

"The Vampire Diaries' star took to social media on Wednesday to give a shout out to Reed after the "Twilight' actress asked friends to help her get a homeless dog adopted. "Someone please give Kate a GREAT HOME!!!! PLEASE!" Somerhalder tweeted along with a link to Reed's previous post about the animal.

Meanwhile, Reed posted a picture of the dog on her WhoSay page, and with that she said:

"Hey friends. This is Kate. She needs a new home, and believe me I would take her if I could. I know this dog inside and out. She has lots and lots of energy, and needs to be the only pet. She gets jealous and is a classic pit when it comes to cats, squirrels, etc. She is great with all people and kids. Super submissive. Would love for her to go to a home close by so everyone can still visit. Email me if you or someone you know can adopt her. Thanks!"

Meanwhile, Somerhalder's ex and "Vampire Diaries' co-star Nina Dobrev has been using her Instagram to post inspirational, and at times, cryptic notes. On July 21, the same day that Us Weekly has first reported that Somerhalder and Reed were dating, Dobrev posted a note that read: "I give/ You take/ I break/ You fake/ PITY,/ I bleed/ You dive in deep/ Into my blood/ As thick as syrup/ Tell me are you/ A mosquito?"

On July 23, Dobrev posted two quotes about beauty and life. The first said, "Beauty is the opposite of perfection. It's about confidence, charisma, and character." The second stated, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."

Despite the quotes, Dobrev revealed to Nylon that she's in a good place. She said, "I don't want any kind of negativity, I try to be good to everyone, whether it's a love, a friend, an ex."
