'Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1' Box Office Review: Film Tops U.S Box Office With $123 Million Opening

Apparently millions of people watched the third installment in the 'Hunger Games' film series as it has garnered $123 million in ticket sales according to box office tracker, Exhibitor Relations.

'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1' has topped box office charts and is considered this year's biggest U.S. opening. Not only that, the film also gained $152 Million in its global opening which currently makes the film's total sales, a staggering $275 Million.

On that note, the film has reportedly topped 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1'.

"This weekend will wind up down versus the same frame a year ago, when the previous 'Hunger Games' installment 'Catching Fire' led" with $158.1 million," Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at tracking firm Rentrak said.

It has been reported that behind 'Hunger Games' is 'Big Hero 6', which just added $20 million to its $135.7 million sales, as 'Interstellar' adds $15 million in its third week of release.

Reports also have mentioned that Christopher Nolan's 'Interstellar' film is now up to $120.5 million domestically.

For those who are not familiar, 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' is mainly about the character Katniss Everdeen, who is considered the "Mockingjay" and is played by Jennifer Lawrence.

In the film, Katniss is seen leading a rebellion against a future dystopian society. Several news agencies consider the film a must-see as it is reportedly thrilling and very dramatic.

Meanwhile, sources are keeping their eyes on the 'Hunger Games' film as it continues to add profits every single day that it is shown both nationally and globally.

On a side note, fans will see the release of new films like 'Horrible Bosses 2' and 'Penguins of Madagascar' next week, and the 'Hunger Games' numbers may change.
