Hunger Games 3: Mockingjay Part 1 Release Date November 2014; Death of Philip Seymour Hoffman Will Not Delay Premiere

Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is still on schedule for its release on November 21, 2014. Fans of the Suzanne Collins novel-based film were previously concerned that the release of the film could be delayed after the death of actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman, who plays the role of Plutarch Heavensbee. However, the film remains on course for a Nov. 21 premiere date.

Lionsgate previously confirmed thay Hoffman had completed most of his scenes for the movie, and that he only had seven days of filming remaining for Mockingjay Part 2.

"So, don't worry. 'Mockingjay Part 1' will still arrive on November 21st and 'Mockingjay Part 2' remains scheduled to arrive on November 20, 2015," announced the production house on a press release statement. Critics had previously assumed that the second installment would have difficulty ending the trilogy given Hoffman's absence, but filmmakers will find ways to finish his few remaining scenes.

In a statement, Lionsgate said, "Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation. We're very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip's family."

The Suzanne Collins novel has been split into two halves for the movie adaptation similar to Harry Potter: Deathly Hollows and the Twilight Saga.

The Mockingjay is the most action-packed book of the trilogy, which focuses on Katniss Everdeen's symbolism of rebellion against the abusive Capitol.

Some moviegoers have questioned whether filmmakers were making the correct choice at dragging out the third book into two separate movies. However, others say that Mockingjay's plot is more comprehensive than the last Twilight book, but not as dense as Deathly Hollows, and so it should fit nicely into two parts.
