'House of Cards' Season 5 Release Date News: Series Rumored to Premiere In March 2017; Doug Stamper Dies For Frank Underwood?

Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) is rumored to die for Frank Underwood in "House of Cards" season 5. Also, Edward Meechum (Nathan Darrow) and Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara) are set to return to Netflix political thriller series.

Following the loss of Barnes and Peter Russo (Corey Stoll), Stamper is set to die to spare Underwood in "House of Cards" season 5, as indicated in The Hollywood Reporter. In his interview with the publication, Kelly said that his character is going to take a bullet for Underwood in the series.

Kelly said that without a doubt, he thought Stamper would like to think he would have taken the gunman down before he had had a chance to fire the bullet. According to the actor, that was Stamper, adding that the character would do anything for him as had been proven with Rachel and what he had done with the donor.

Along with Barnes return, Darrow has also mentioned about his return to "House of Cards" season 5. In his interview with Bustle, the "Gotham" actor said that if the writers found that something that was useful to telling another angle of the story or if they felt that it was going to be interesting to the audience, then it was sure that they could. For Darrow, the great thing about storytelling is the element of being open-ended.

"House of Cards" executive producer Kevin Spacey said in a press statement (via Enstarz) that season 5 is set to be run by Frank Pugliese and Melissa James Gibson. The fifth season installment is rumored to premiere in March 2017.
