House of Cards Season 3 Release Date, Cast News: Frank Underwood Makes Appearance on ‘Colbert Report’

'House of Cards' is currently filming its third season, which features a number of foreign affairs with Russia.

Kevin Spacey went on 'The Colbert Report' while portraying President Frank Underwood, who was sworn into presidency in the second season. The actor graced fans with his signature persona, someone who gets things done.

"I firmly believe that a dog doesn't need to show his teeth as long as he has a deep growl, knows where every bone is buried, and his plate is full," Spacey said in a deep hushed tone that put the fans into a surreal moment.

On a side note, Russian actors Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova have been confirmed to join the cast. With the major deaths that occurred in the past season (Peter Russo, Season 1; Zoe Barnes, Season 2), it will be interesting to see how politics will play a huge role in relationships on the show. Without spoiling too much, Netflix told E! Online that one character will certainly die this upcoming season.

Season 3 also presents perfect timing for Frank and Claire to focus on their love affair. Screenwriter Beau Willimon, in a Twitter Q&A revealed, "I think he's very much in love with Claire,"pertaining to Spacey's character.

Screenwriter Beau Willimon explained how Frank Underwood is often misunderstood in episodes, "The Series holds up the question, 'Does the end justify the needs, when your Government is not performing the tasks that it was supposed to?' Personally, I do not favor the thought of Government officials offing individuals, but here we are looking at an individual who is not held back by a gridlock."

'House of Cards' Season 3 is expected to hit TV screens on February 2015.
