'House of Card' Season 2 Release Date 2014 Netflix, Kevin Spacey Interview w/ Stephen Colbert NEW Watch Here (VIDEO) 

"House of Cards" star Kevin Spacey stopped by The Colbert Report to speak with Stephen Colbert about the success of the show. The new drama series on Neflix focuses on the life of politics, the good, bad and the ugly. The series became an immediate hit with fans and even drew the attention of the Emmy Awards committee.

Colbert jokingly gives Spacey a hard time about being nominated for an Emmy when his show isn't 'really on tv' and Spacey has great answers about the direction of people watching series. He explains that since the release of DVD Box Sets, fans of a show have loved being able to 'binge' on their shows if they wanted to. 

Netflix has been breaking ground with shows like "House of Cards" and "Arrested Development" in releasing entire seasons at once instead of one episode a week. It is a gamble on the part of the company but has had very successful results. 

"House of Cards" the original series on Netflix became a surprise smash hit in its first season and the highly anticipated Season 2 is in the works right now.  

Chief executive producer of Netflix, Reed Hastings, is enjoying the success of the "House of Cards" but has even bigger long term aspirations for the political thriller series. 

"House of Cards" is Netflix's first original series and received some nice validation with it's recent Emmy nomination for "Outstanding Drama Series". This was the first time a program from only a digital platform received a high-profile Emmy nomination. 

Jennifer Holt, an associate professor of film and media studies at the University of California Santa Barbara had this to say about Netflix, "The more critical acclaim its programming gets, the more valuable it will become as a service, and the more people will be willing to pay for it."

"House of Cards" Season 2 is expected to release early in 2014 on Netflix.
