Hillsong UNITED Nominated for American Music Award After Winning Five Dove Awards

Hillsong UNITED has been nominated for an American Music Award as the nominations were announced yesterday. UNITED is nominated for Contemporary Inspirational Artist, and this is the group's first AMA nomination.

The 2014 AMAs will be broadcast LIVE from the Nokia Theater L.A. on November 23rd on the ABC Network. The AMAs are a fan-voted award show with winners determined by votes cast online as well as via Twitter. The voting is now open, fans can vote by going to the AMA site here.

Hillsong UNITED won five Dove Awards including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Contemporary Christian Performance of the Year, Worship Song of the Year and Pop Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year, and a special nod with a Lifetime Achievement.

"We are completely humbled that a bunch of everyday ordinary church kids would have the honor to be recognized for what we do, which in a nutshell is to glorify Jesus and help people connect with Him," said worship leader Jonathan Douglass, who was the lone representative of the group, "So these awards are all trophies to the glory of God and represent people hearing the Gospel and encountering His presence."

The Lifetime Achievement award was to commemorate 30-year anniversary as leading pioneers in worship music and church history.

The big winning song was their "Oceans [Where My Feet May Fail]" track.

Hillsong Music which consists of Young & Free, UNITED, and Live, was nominated for 10 awards in total.

Hillsong UNITED was also recently announced to headline the beginning of the Winter Jam Tour, which starts on November 6.

"This will be our fourth year taking Winter Jam out West and we believe it will be the best year yet," said Eddie Carswell, Winter Jam originator and NewSong founding member in a release, "With Hillsong UNITED headlining, along with the other great artists in the line-up, each night will be an amazing night of worship and celebration. We can't wait to see what God is going to do!"
