Free concerts, the energy of New York City, scenic views and amazing artists make Central Park a great place to watch a concert. Christian music fans have no limit of options when it comes to seeing one of their favorite artists perform in Central Park this summer.

K-LOVE Radio kicked off what will be a barrage of events taking place in the park with a 'Family Fun' Day on May 4. This concert featured Jeannie Ortega, the Paul Paoli band, and guest speaker Chris White.

On May 9, Hillsong UNITED performed in front of thousands in New York City's Rumsey Playfield with two free shows as part of Hillsong Church NYC's 'Welcome to Summer' Party. Hillsong UNITED led worship through what was the equivalent of two mega church services (one beginning at 4:30pm; the other beginning at 7pm). They sang hits off of their Deserts album, inclduing "The Stand," as well as songs of of their Empires album, which drops today. Hillsong NYC pastor Carl Lentz spoke at these services.

NY Cityfest in Central Park will be a massive free festival, held on July 11 in collaboration with Luis Palau Ministries and numerous other protestant organizations. Though the event is free to attend, tickets are required and can be obtained by signing up on the festival's waitlist.

TobyMac, Matt Redman, and Hezekiah Walker will be just three of the main artists performing on July 11. Luis Palau himself is scheduled to speak. There will be a guest appearance by famed NY Yankees closer and devout Christian, Mariano Rivera.

Kevin Palau, head of Luis Palau ministries, had no shortage of enthusiasm as he gushed about NY Cityfest. "We're so honored to join with the faith community in New York City to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ at this renowned location," he said. "It has been such a joy to help celebrate and grow the gospel movement that is taking place here in the New York City metro area. God is doing something special in this city, and to be able to hold this major festival in the city's 'living room' is a dream."

This upcoming weekend, a smaller event will be held on May 30th in conjunction with the Palau Ministries as a "pre-festival" to NY Cityfest. The May 30th event, featuring speaker Andrew Palau and Reach Records artist Andy Mineo, will be held entirely on the Rumsey Playfield and is also free to attend.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone in the New York City area to see a great concert in an epic setting this summer.
