'Hannibal' Season 4 News, Premiere Date: Hugh Dancy Talks Possibilities, 'Complete Restart'

"Hannibal" season 4 might happen, according to the show's star Hugh Dancy.

Dancy played the role of the gifted criminal profiler Will Graham in the first three seasons of the American psychological horror-thriller television series "Hannibal."

In his and show creator Bryan Fuller's interview with Collider during a panel at the Television Critics Association, Dancy said that Fuller had pitched to him and had described to him an overview with what he had wanted to do with the fourth season, had there been and interest. The actor added that it had been really fantastic.

According to Dancy, "Hannibal" season 4 is set to "hypothetically" go back to the events in "Hannibal" season 1. For the actor, Fuller's idea was a "complete restart," as they could make it happen in the forthcoming fourth installment of the psychological thriller.

Dancy told the publication that it had been a complete restart, because they might be able to do it in the future, but it had taken them back to the first season in a very unexpected way, and had made total sense of that cliffhanger ending. He added that it had seemed justified.

Based on Thomas Harris' novel, "Hannibal's" season 4 is also rumored to present a storyline that shifts to Harris' second novel "The Silence of the Lambs." The novel introduced CFBI trainee and Special Agent Clarice Starling; however, certain plot details might be different in "Hannibal" season 4, as per Movie News Guide.

According to Christian Today, "Hannibal" had been canceled due to low viewer ratings, in contrary to critical acclaim. The publication added that neither deal with Amazon and Netflix actualized and the show had been officially tagged as canceled, with the cast and crew untied from their contracts.

The premiere date for "Hannibal" season 4 is yet to be revealed.
