Gungor's 'One Wild Life: Soul' Hits No. 2 on Billboard's Christian Charts

Gungor

Husband and wife duo, Gungor, One Wild Life: Soul, debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's Christian Albums Chart this week.

Critics and fans alike are heralding the new release, which dropped August 7, as yet another success from the band.

CCM Magazine says Soul is "expertly crafted and calls for all within earshot to take immediate notice." Fans on iTunes have praised the Soul LP as "brilliant" and "a masterpiece" and describe Michael and Lisa Gungor as "artists in their prime."

Soul is first of three full-length albums to be released by the band over the next year. It will be followed by One Wild Life: Spirit and One Wild Life: Body. While each record will carry a distinct vibe, the album series presents a body of work that celebrates the adventure and challenges faced by Michael and Lisa since the release of their album I Am Mountain two years ago.

One Wild Life: Soul is breathtaking in every facet. The production and scoring of the album blows away a lot of their contemporaries and lyrically the messages and imagery target a deep rooted understanding of faith and prose. As for the vocals, it works much like a Beatles album, whereas Paul McCartney would have a song and then John Lennon would have a song, Michael and Lisa usually do the same. However, when the two come together to harmonize and sing leads in unison, the result is magical.

It's hard to categorize exactly what kind of music it is. In the past Gungor was mostly known for their brazen worship, but with their last release I Am Mountain and now this one, they have surely evolved into music aficionados. One Wild Life: Soul touches on worship, indie rock, folk, electronic synth pop, and symphonic epic scores in a way that is sure to leave listeners clamoring for more.
