'Guild Wars 2' New PvP Patch Details, Official Notes: Revamped Rosters, Match Prompts, Dishonor, Map Voting Changes

The developers behind popular MMORPG 'Guild Wars 2' are excited to announce that they plan to revamp the PvP (player vs player) arenas in the game with a view to increase match flow. ArenaNet's own Evan Lesh posted the details about the upcoming patch in an official blog post.

First and foremost, Lesh started off by saying Rosters in the game are now a thing of the past. He wrote, "The concept of PvP rosters has been completely removed. Players queueing by themselves will no longer need to create and submit a roster to play, and the days of teams forming parties just to invite them to a PvP roster are over."

This change removes the need to recreate the roster every time the party queues up for a match. Basically the group can queue over and over, essentially bringing flow to the game's PvP.

Beyond that, this change brought about another important update, and that's to the PvP UI which has received a major overhaul.

Another change in the upcoming 'Guild Wars 2' patch, is that players will now be alerted when their queue pops. For a while gamers were complaining that AFK (away from keyboard) players were messing up the match queues by not accepting them when they're ready.

However, the developers have heard the pleas of their gamers, as Lesh posted a solution to the issue, "When a match has been found, a distinct sound will alert players who have the game minimized or are looking away from their screens. The game will also flash on the task bar if sound is muted."

What's more is that, if a player is truly away from their keyboard and cannot accept the match before the time runs out, the developers have also come up with a solution for that.

Lesh writes, "For the players who have walked away from their computers, or for players who simply forgot they were in queue and no longer want to play, the ready check finds and replaces them before the match even starts."

The blog post goes on to mention changes to the Dishonor system as well as the implementation of a Map Voting system. For more information about the coming changes to 'Guild Wars 2' check out the offical blog post here.

Last but not least, in regards to the launch date of the new 'Guild Wars 2' PvP overhaul update, Joystiq reports that the patch releases on December 2.
