Green Day New Movie 'American Idiot' Documentary Release Date 2014, Watch Trailer Here (VIDEO)

Green Day reclaimed top rock band in the world back in Fall of 2004 with the release of American Idiot

This was different territory for the California punk/rock band to do a concept record with a theme and story line throughout with a main character of 'Jesus of Suburbia'. The album paid off for them as fans and radio ate up the music and put Green Day back on top.

American Idiot released 5 singles that topped the charts: "American Idiot", "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", "Holiday", "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and "Jesus of Suburbia".

After the success of the album, Green Day took their music where they never thought it would end up... Broadway.

Above is the trailer (explicit language) about the story of American Idiot and how the music turned into a Broadway play. You get to see the hands on nature that Billy Joe and the band had with all of the people involved in the production.

The collaboration with Michael Mayer, director Ira Pittleman and producer Doug Hamilton has gone on to win Grammy, Tony and Drama Desk awards since it's release to Broadway.

The film debuted at SXSW 2013, the premiere music & arts festival in Austin,TX.

Broadway Idiot is set to release in New York on October 11th and the U.S. on October 18th, 2013.
