Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Says God Doesn't Care About Football After Historic 2015 NFC Championship Collapse

Christian Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers recently expressed his thoughts regarding God's involvement in sports after his former NFC Championship counterpart Russell Wilson thanked God when the Seattle Seahawks advanced to the Super Bowl last Sunday.

Rodgers' Packers lost to the defending Super Bowl Champion Seahawks by a final score of 28-22 in overtime at this year's NFC Championship game on January 18.

"I don't think God cares a whole lot about the outcome. He cares about the people involved, but I don't think he's a big football fan," said Rodgers on his weekly radio show 'Tuesdays with Aaron' on WAUK-AM on January 20.

The Packers officially blew a previous 16-0 lead versus the Seahawks after Wilson threw the game winning 35-yard pass to Seattle WR Jermaine Kearse in overtime in order to complete the biggest comeback in conference history.

Rodgers' viewpoint is the complete opposite of Wilson's recent comments when the Cincinnati, Ohio native credited God for the improbable victory.

"Just making the plays at the end. Keep believing. There was no doubt, I just had no doubt. We had no doubt as a team. The funny thing is I was on the sideline right before we went off that last drive and I told (offensive coordinator Darrell) Bevell, 'be ready for the check', for the play that we just ran through the touchdown," said Wilson to FOX network reporter Erin Andrews after the game.

"I said 'I'm gonna pull a touchdown and win the game'. And sure enough man. I just believe that God prepared me for these situations. God's prepared our team too as well. Like I said, I'm honored to be on this team. I'm going to the Super Bowl again."

Like Wilson, Rodgers has expressed their faith in Jesus Christ in numerous interviews in the past especially during his team's Super Bowl title run during 2011 playoffs.

"We all have a platform, we all have a message in our lives. I just try to follow Jesus' example, leading by example," said Super Bowl XLV MVP to the Baptist Press nearly four years ago.

"God always has a plan for us, a path. Sometimes we wish we knew it sooner, but He always shows up His way."
