Grand Theft Auto 6 Release Date? Rockstar Executive Says 'We've Got Some Ideas' on the Next Installment

An interview with Rockstar Studios president Leslie Benzies indicates the game company already has ideas for the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto series.

GTA 6 might not be for a while "but we've got some ideas," said Benzies to Develop. "We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do."

Benzies discussed what goes into picking the setting of the next game and how Rockstar will get to creating it.

"It comes from the idea first. Where is it going to be set is the first question. Then that defines the missions; you're doing different things in LA than in New York or Miami. The map and story get worked up together, and the story is a basic flow of how it works out so you can layer the missions in."

In the mean time, GTA 5 PC's potential release date has been rumored for two possible launches with some sources suggesting a summer debut, and others hinting at a September drop.

Numerous European publications have began listing the game on their sites, with some going as far as taking pre-orders. Some of these sites are even suggesting a release to the Xbox One and PS4 as well, according to IBTimes .

Czech retailer SuperGamer.cz, claim the game is coming on June 13. However, according to some sources the information is a bit suspicious because the platform listed for the game is for "Windows Live," which is not a system currently available.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick also responded to talk on whether the game will head to other gaming platforms, most notably the PC, where rumors have been floating everywhere.

"If that is where consumers are, absolutely [we'll release our game on that]. But we wouldn't drive them there, we would just be there if they are there. That is why we have a companion app for our basketball title, NBA 2K Everywhere. It is wherever consumers want to be," he told MCV.

Zelnick also said by having GTA Online, the game can carry on a new life of its own.

"With GTA V, we have sold 32.5m units in to date, which is extraordinary. 70 per cent of people that have played GTA V while online have played GTA Online, which is a free-to-play experience. And recurrent consumer spending, which includes GTA Online revenue, represented nearly half of our digitally delivered revenue in the quarter. So people are voting that they want to stay engaged and they are voting with their wallets."?GTA 5 was released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17 2013, and sold over a million copies in two days.
