Google Nexus 8 Rumors, Price, Release Date, Specs: Will Device Be Manufactured By HTC or LG?

Following on from the big success of the Nexus 7, Google has now decided to launch the next Nexus version, the Nexus 8. The upcoming device has sparked widespread rumors, each coming out with different details regarding the forthcoming Android device from the Mountain View, California-based, tech behemoth. It is believed that Nexus 8 will be a follow-up to Nexus 7 and will be launched in the coming months.

Android Geeks quotes an anonymous Dublin-based Google employee that the American corporation is unlikely to announce the launch of Nexus 8 at the Google I/O conference scheduled for June. Instead, it is likely to be introduced some time after July along with the Android 4.5, while the June event will focus on other services and devices from Google.

That information fits well with what's happened in the past; the two Nexus 7 models were launched in July - July 2012 and July 2013.

Although there is no confirmation yet regarding the price of the forthcoming Nexus 8 tablet, as the device is expected to be larger compared to the Nexus 7, which is being sold for about $505 (£299), it is likely to cost more. This could be true as the Nexus 8 will incorporate advanced specifications. However, keeping in mind the tough competition from its rivals, Google is unlikely to price it too high.

Some have also been speculating that Google will not produce 7-inch tablets any longer, but enhance the size to 8 inches. This denotes that the forthcoming device from Google will be almost like some of the products of its rivals - iPad mini, Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, and LG G Pad 8.3. But many are still left wondering who will manufacture the Nexus 8.

Some reports have indicated that Google is likely to collaborate with Asus, which made both the versions of the Nexus 7, for manufacturing the Nexus 8. However, other rumors have claimed that Google has revised its decision and is now opting for HTC, despite the fact that it does not possess as much experience in manufacturing tablets. There are also rumors that Google may collaborate with LG for its forthcoming Nexus 8 tablet.
