'God's Not Dead 2’ Set to Followup First Movie's Million Dollar Success; Film Could Arrive in 2015 [VIDEO]

Gods not dead Movie

'God's Not Dead' is the highest grossing independent faith-based film of 2014, and producer Michael Scott and the folks at Pure Flix Entertainment are looking to capitalize on that by releasing 'God's Not Dead 2'.

Scott revealed to Charisma News that the success behind 'God's Not Dead' will in fact be followed with a second installment.

"We've got a full slate next year. You'll see 'Do You Believe?', which is coming in the spring ... we're looking at late March for the release [and] next year possibly either fall or the following year you'll see 'God's Not Dead 2'," Scott said.

'God's Not Dead', although it had a small budget, Scott said it earned $9.2 million in its first week in theaters, finishing fifth in the U.S. box office. It went on to earn another $8.5 to $9 million the following week, holding on to its fifth place spot and eventually jumping to fourth in U.S. box offices.

Even social media took to the faith-based film. People flooded their pages with the phrase "God's not dead" and it quickly became a phenomena. "We became the Number 1 page (on) Facebook in the world during the week of the trailer's release," Scott said.

The movie 'God's Not Dead' is about a freshman college student named Josh Wheaton (Shane Harper), who enrolled in a philosophy class taught by a notorious and domineering professor. Prof. Radisson (Kevin Sorbo) demanded all of his students sign a declaration that "God is dead" in order to get a passing grade in his class. Wheaton refused and defended his belief in God.

'God's Not Dead' was directed by Harold Cronk, and stars Sorbo, Harper, David A.R. White, and Dean Cain also featuring the Newboys and Phil Robertson. It was released throughout the United States Friday, March 21 by Pure Flix Entertainment.

The studio is currently filming 'Do You Believe?' in Michigan, according to what producer White told BREATHEcast in a recent interview.
