'Girl Meets World' Season 3 News: ‘Family Matters’ Star Reginald VelJohnson Joins Cast, Plays Cop Role

"Family Matters" actor Reginald VelJohnson has joined the growing cast ensemble of "Girl Meets World" season 3.

According to E! News, VelJohnson, who played Carl Winslow in the series, is set to guest star in "Girl Meets World" season 3. The "Family Matters" star is set to play a role of a cop, which reportedly fits him due to his extensive experience in playing the role in various projects, such as John McTiernan's "Die Hard" and Ivan Reitman's "Ghostbusters."

Aside from McTiernan's "Die Hard" and Reitman's "Ghostbusters," VelJohnson is also known for his roles in William Bickley's "Family Matters," Renny Harlin's "Die Hard 2," Tommy Blaze and David A.R. White's "Hitting the Breaks," Glenn Howerton and Rob McElhenney's "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia," and Peter Sullivan's "The Flight Before Christmas."

VelJohnson's role in "Girl Meets World" season 3 will not be similar to his character in the 1989 series, according to the Bitbag. As per the publication, his inclusion in the series indicates trouble for one of the characters in the season. Also, fans are set to see a love triangle among Maya, Lucas, and Riley, along with the latter's transition to a high school life.

In a statement, "Girl Meets World" actor Ben Savage told the publication that they had been thrilled that the actor had joined them on set last week. He also mentioned that having him there had felt like stepping back into his childhood, adding that he as a terrific actor and such a nice guy.

"Girl Meets World" season 3 is currently filming and is set to return in spring this year. Exact details on additional cast, characters, plot details, and release date are yet to be revealed.
