Actor/comedian George Lopez had a spiritual reawakening during his recent visit to Jerusalem. According to photos he posted the 53-year-old visited parts of the region considered holy including the Wailing Wall, the supposed tomb of Jesus, and was re-baptized in the Jordan River.
Lopez traveled around the country of Israel mid-November and shared the inspiring photos all over social media. With his picture post, Lopez gave his followers a brief Bible journey.
His first posted a photo of himself standing on a hill right in front of the Sea of Galilee, and reminded his followers that is where it is also known as the "Mt Of Beatitudes," talked about in Matthew 5.
The next stop for the Mexican star was the Jordan River, in which he stated that he was "Re-Baptized" in on his trip. Lopez posted a photo of himself fully soaked in water with the hashtag "go in peace." In Mark 1 Jesus, like Lopez was baptized in the Jordan River.
After getting his "hands dirty" in the largest archeological excavation site in the City of David, and visiting the Wailing Wall, Lopez then headed to the place where Jesus was allegedly buried. The actor shared a serious photo of himself appearing reflective "paying respect" to what he called the "Final resting place of Christ." The actor then went on to proclaim the gospel of the resurrection of Jesus found in John 20 . "#HeWasNotThere" and "#HeISRisen" Lopez declared.
Lopez ended his spiritual journey of pictures with another picture of the tomb and wrote "Final resting place of Christ, not a bad spot when he does come back!"
Lopez' Christian fans were very delighted to see his outward declaration of faith on social media. Most people immediately commended his journey while others found error in some of his phrasing, but ultimately the feedback was positive. "Thanks for sharing the picture! Makes me feel closer to Jesus!" one posted, another wrote, "So glad that you are going on this journey with God. Praise be to God!"
