Free U2 Album for iTunes Users: How To Download On iOS Devices & Desktops

Currently, Apple is giving away a copies of U2's latest album Songs of Innocence to every iTunes customer at no cost.

After U2 performed at Apple's press conference, revealing the two new phones from the company, U2's front man Bono along with Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that they would be giving free copies of the band's album.

Although the album is dubbed free, U2's Songs of Innocence is only free to the 500 million individuals who are iTunes users.

The band's album can be streamed or downloaded from the iTunes store, but it may be tricky to find it if you don't know where to look.

According to CNET, there are two slightly different ways to download the album depending on whether you are using a desktop with iTunes or a device that operates on iOS.

iTunes on desktop

For those who are using a desktop, the first step is to open up iTunes with Apple ID. After logging in, the next step is to go to the Store. On top of the screen, a rotating carousel can be seen with a U2 banner. The album can be downloaded by clicking on the banner.

Aside from clicking the banner on the carousel, the album can also be accessed in another way. By clicking the Purchased button under the Quick Links column on the right hand side of the screen, the screen would show the albums that the user has. U2's album can be found there, and can be downloaded by clicking the cloud icon on the top right corner of the band's album.

iPhone and iOS devices

For iPhone and iOS device users, the simplest way to find the new album of U2 is to open the Music application. From there, the next step is to proceed to Artists and search for U2 or search under Albums for Songs of Innocence. Once found, the album can be downloaded to the device by tapping on the album title and pressing the cloud icon.

Songs of Innocence may also be downloaded to iOS devices by using the methods for desktop users.

Meanwhile, if the phone's auto-download feature is enabled, the album will automatically appear on the device, according to Daily Mail.

Apple's free offer ends on October 13.
