‘Fantastic Four’ New Movie Reboot Official Synopsis, Plot News: 20th Century Fox Confirms Storyline

20th Century Fox has revealed the official synopsis for their upcoming 'Fantastic Four' reboot, which is a nod to the comic book series that first started it all, 'Ultimate Fantastic Four'.

An unofficial plot synopsis based on a leaked final script by screenwriter Simon Kinberg initially circulated online, but 20th Century Fox has since confirmed an official one to IGN.

The official synopsis reads, "THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy."

The synopsis is reminiscent to that from the comic book published from 2004 to 2009, 'Ultimate Fantastic Four'.

It looks like the movie might follow the storyline in the comic book where the four characters, who will eventually become the members of Fantastic Four, find themselves at the N-Zone after an experiment gone wrong.

The group, now imbued with superpowers, has to find a way to get back to Earth, and end up battling against the Mole Man and Dr. Doom to save the world.

However, cast member Kate Mara, who plays Sue Storm, said that the movie will have its own spin on the characters and the story. She claimed that Director Josh Trank said the movie "won't be based on any history of anything already published."

Mara's fellow cast member Michael B. Jordan, who will play Johnny Storm, also told IGN that the upcoming reboot was a "grounded" version that focuses more on the characters and not really the story. He claimed that they were planning to get to "the nuts and bolts of acting with this larger than life 'bigger world' idea."

'Fantastic 4' is directed by Trank and written by Kinberg, Jeremy Slater and Simon Kinberg. It stars Jordan as Johnny a.k.a. Human Torch, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm a.k.a. Thing, Mara as Sue a.k.a. Invisible Woman, Miles Teller as Reed Richards a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic, Toby Kebbell as Dr. Doom and more.

'Fantastic 4' is set to be released in theaters on Aug. 7, 2015.
