Emmy Awards 2014: Robin Williams Remembered by Billy Crystal & Colleagues During Heartbreaking Tribute (VIDEO)

Robin Williams' longtime friend Billy Crystal honored the late actor and comedian with a very touching speech at the 2014 Emmy Awards show last night.

"It is very hard to talk about him in the past because he was so present in our lives," said Crystal during the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards on August 25, "He made us laugh. Hard...He made us laugh big time...The brilliance was astounding...He could be funny anywhere."

After Williams committed suicide on August 11, 2014 at the age of 63, people expressed what a major impact the late performer had on their lives in a positive way, Crystal felt no different.

"As genius as he was onstage, he was the greatest friend you can ever imagine," said Crystal.

"While some of the brightest of our celestial bodies are actually extinct now, their energy long since cool, but miraculously, because they float in the heavens so far away from the sound, their beautiful life will continue to shine on us forever," he added.

Williams, Crystal, and 'The View' co-host Whoopi Goldberg hosted several events for charity purposes on various networks (HBO, NBC, Showtime, Fox, ABC and TBS to name a few) since the first 'Comic Relief' that aired on television in 1986.

The 2014 Emmys producer, Don Mischer, recently discussed why he chose Crystal to talk about his deceased friend at the prestigious annual television awards show.

"We felt we needed to do something powerful and memorable," said Mischer in a statement in reference to the Robin Williams homage, "Billy [Crystal] seemed like the perfect choice."

On a side note, Williams honored his late friend and mentor Jonathan Winters at last year's Emmy Awards show, but now the 'Mrs. Doubtfire' actor was remembered by his friends and admirers, as singer Sara Bareilles performed during the tragic montage last night.

"Robin Williams, what a concept," said Crystal.
