Emma Watson New Movie News: 'Harry Potter' Star Set to Play Belle in 'Beauty and the Beast'

Emma Watson is all set to be the next Disney Princess after bagging the role of Belle in Disney's upcoming live-action "Beauty and the Beast' film.

Tweeting about her new role with Disney, the actress tweeted "I'm finally able to tell you... that I will be playing Belle in Disney's new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I'll get to dance to 'Be Our Guest' and sing 'Something There'. My six year old self is on the ceiling - heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can't wait for you to see it. Emma xx."

'Beauty and the Beast' is just the latest flick, among the many Disney reboots into live-action films. Earlier movies include "Alice in Wonderland' and "Maleficent'. Upcoming films in this genre include "Cinderella' and "The Jungle Book', which is due to release on 15 April, 2016.

Disney's "Beauty and the Beast' will be directed by Bill Condon, who has directed "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn', according to CBS. The news agency also reported that Guillermo del Toro, who was earlier designated to be the director, will no longer work for the movie. Disney is all set to start the production this year.

According to Variety Magazine, the script was written by Evan Spiliotopoulos and will be re-written by Stephen Chbosky.

The movie, which was originally an animated movie, managed to gross more than $145 million domestically since its release in 1991. After its massive success, the movie was turned into a Broadway musical in 1994, the first ever musical by Disney, according to Variety Magazine.
