Dove Awards 2014 Winners: Artist of the Year Award Goes to Hillsong in Big Day for Australian Worship Group
Hillsong wins big at the 45th Annual GMA Dove Awards by taking home the coveted Artist of the Year Award.
Hillsong Music received 10 Dove Award nominations including Song of the Year and New Artist of the Year. They won for "Oceans [Where My Feet May Fail]" for Song of the Year.
Hillsong Music encompasses all of the different groups under Hillsong, which includes Young & Free, UNITED, and Live.
"We celebrate with Hillsong on the multiple nominations," said Peter York, President, Capitol CMG Label Group in a release, "Hillsong music has pioneered worship music throughout the years and over the last year, they have once again redefined worship around the world for the local church. Capitol CMG is honored to be partnered with Hillsong and their mission. Congratulations to UNITED, Young & Free and Worship groups."
UNITED received nominations for Artist of the Year, Contemporary Christian Performance of the Year ("Oceans - Where Feet May Fall," Worship Song of the Year ("Oceans - Where Feet May Fall," and Pop Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year ("Oceans - Where Feet May Fall."
Young & Free was nominated for New Artist of the year, Pop Contemporary Album of the Year (We Are Young & Free), Praise and Worship Album of the Year (We Are Young & Free), and Pop Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year ("Alive").
Hillsong Live received a nomination for Long Form Video of the Year ("Glorious Ruins").
"We are honored to receive these nominations for Dove Awards and are humbled that people listen to our music," stated the Hillsong Music team in a press release, "We pray that it always points them to Jesus. To God be the Glory!"
Hillsong UNITED was also recently announced to headline the beginning of the Winter Jam Tour, which starts on November 6.
"This will be our fourth year taking Winter Jam out West and we believe it will be the best year yet," said Eddie Carswell, Winter Jam originator and NewSong founding member in a release, "With Hillsong UNITED headlining, along with the other great artists in the line-up, each night will be an amazing night of worship and celebration. We can't wait to see what God is going to do!"
