Donnie McClurkin Set to Honor His ‘Mentor’ Andrae Crouch During All-Star Tribute at Movie Guide Awards [VIDEO]

Upon hearing the news of Andrae Crouch's passing, many in the gospel world were greatly affected. The 23rd annual Movieguide Faith & Values Awards will put on a special tribute featuring Donnie McClurkin and other gospel music icons.

The Movieguide Faith & Values Awards is taking place on February 6. The event will be hosted by Bill Engvall and is set to feature presenters and celebrity guests Jeff Bridges, Lecrae, Sadie & Corie Robertson (Duck  Dynasty), CeCe Winans, Marvin Winans, and many others.

Well-known gospel singer McClurkin is a key performer in a tribute to the late gospel music legend Crouch and it could not have been a better fit. Upon hearing of the death of Crouch, McClurkin took to Facebook to share his feelings.

"I can't even sleep..Andrae' Crouch....my father in Gospel Music...," he posted. The New York based Pastor also posted a video the night of Crouch's passing.

"Andre Crouch has passed away and my heart is so heavy," McClurkin said in the video, "He was my mentor; the one who laid hands on me when I was 11 years old and prayed that God would give me what he had given to him."

McClurkin has had a very rough past in which he has been publicly transparent about. In the video he says it was Crouch who "took time and really cared about what was going on" in his life.

"Tonight's he's gone to heaven and left our hearts broken, he said, "Our modern day David has left and gone to Heaven."

Crouch, died at age 72 on Jan. 8, and was originally set to perform at the awards. Others set to honor the late gospel legend are Cece and Marvin Winans, Take 6, and Tata Vaga.
