"He (Los Angeles closer Kenley Jansen) showed in Arizona (after the last blown save prior to Tuesday night's blown save) that he bounces right back," said Dodgers skipper Don Mattingly to reporters about his closer's recent struggles saving games this season. "The only thing we worry about is usage. But I don't see a difference in his mentality or demeanor. He's still challenging hitters."

The Giants are looking to sweep the three game series against their National League West rivals when they face the Dodgers today. The Giants defeated the Dodgers by the final score of 2-1 yesterday. San Francisco pitcher Jean Machi got the victory in relief for the Giants last night. The Giants are hoping tonight's starter Madison Bumgarner (2-0) will out duel Dodgers starter Hyun-Jin Ryu when the two men oppose each other tonight.

"They don't really expect a whole lot out of pitchers, so we get to go up there with no pressure," said Bumgarner to reporters discussing how difficult it is for a pitcher to hit despite the fact he has three career homeruns. "It's easier to hit that way but, at the same time, it's the hardest thing to do in sports."
