'Descendants Of The Sun' Season 2 Spoilers, Cast News: Next Season Canceled Due To Song Hye Kyo, Song Joong Ki’s Break Up?

Fans of Korean television series "Descendants of the Sun" may not see the show's second season soon. As per reports, the reason is the actors' break up.

The series' season 2 has been canceled, following the reported split up of Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki, iTech Post has learned. As per the publication, Filipina actress Jessy Mendiola is linked to the issue. The actors refused to reprise their roles in the hit TV series following the Asia Pacific Actors Network (APAN) Star Awards, an event where Mendiola met Song Joong Ki and was honored with the Best APAN Star Award.

Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki have been rumored to be a couple in real-life during the progress of "Descendants of the Sun;" this led their fans to demand seeing them together in the show.

Meanwhile, the show's studio, KBS, has been exerting efforts to persuade the actors to reprise their roles in the series' second season. As per FX News Call, the sequel will only push through if the actors return, since they were the two most recognizable faces in the cast and launching the show without the two could adversely impact the show's ratings. To make things happen, the studio reportedly offered the actors a salary increase.

In this regard, it is assumed that KBS is in negotiations with both Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki for "Descendants of the Sun" season 2. The studio has not unveiled any other details on the upcoming season, in terms of plot, characters, and theme dynamics.

The show centers on Captain Yoo Shi Jin (Song Joong Ki), who falls in love with Dr. Kang Mo Yeon (Soong Hye Kyo), in the verge of war in their country.

"Descendants of the Sun" season 1 was initially released in April. KBS is yet to unveil details on season 2.
