'Dancing With The Stars' Season 23 Winner: Laurie And Val Bring Home The Mirrorball Trophy

"Dancing with the Stars" said goodbye to its 23rd season last Tuesday with a two-hour special packed with live performances.

The episode was loaded with fillers, which were all nothing compared to the highlight of the night: the crowning of the "Dancing with the Stars" season 23 champion.

Prior to the season finale, the contestants were narrowed down to Laurie and Val, James and Sharna, and Calvin and Lindsay.

James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess performed a foxtrot and Viennese waltz. The performance was not filled with leaps and twirls, but it was all good. Bruno called James a class act and said he was very well in tune with Sharna. "I wish I could dance like you," he said. The duo scored 40/40.

Calvin Johnson, Jr. and Lindsay Arnold danced jazz and quickstep, which was a lot more energetic than James and Sharna's routine. Julianne said the dance was a perfect fusion dance, while Bruno said Calvin was so good at making people happy. The duo also scored 40/40.

Meanwhile, Laurie Hernandez and Valentin Chmerkovskiy performed a foxtrot and Argentine tango. Carrie Ann told Laurie that it was her best dance ever in the competition and that she nearly cried knowing that she would not see her anymore. Like the first two, Laurie and Valentin also got a perfect 40.

Towards the end of the competition, it was Laurie and Val that brought home the Mirrorball trophy. James and Sharna emerged second while Calvin and Lindsay finished third.
