Cindy Morgan's 'Bows & Arrows' Releases Today; First Record in Nearly 10 Years

Cindy Morgan

Singer/songwriter and author Cindy Morgan just released her first all new studio album in a decade, Bows & Arrows, has returned to her musical roots with bluegrass Americana style.

Produced by Morgan, along with co-producer and engineer Kyle Buchanan (Ginny Owens, Andrew Greer), the project showcases a new arrangement of Morgan's 1992 career-defining ballad, "How Could I Ask for More," featuring singer/songwriter Andrew Peterson. With 13 selections penned or co-written by the artist, additional highlights of Bows & Arrows include "Can't Help Yourself," featuring singer/songwriter Gabe Dixon and bluegrass mandolinist Sierra Hull; "Do You Know Jesus," featuring Jonathan Kingham; "Bring Balloons"; and "The Sound of a Train," with upright bassist Viktor Krauss.

"Bluegrass was the music of my childhood," Morgan said in a press release. "My father was a musician and songwriter who played guitars in country and bluegrass bands. My mom was a gospel singer. I find myself always returning to the music of my youth, and I think Bows & Arrows is really the amalgamating of all the music I have loved in my life."

The recording follows the August 4 release of Morgan's latest critically-acclaimed book, How Could I Ask For More: Stories of Blessings, Battles and Beauty (Worthy Publishing). Inspired by her iconic song, the book is a collection of poignant vignettes from Morgan's life and perspective.
