Christians Outraged at Burger King's 'Proud Burger' in Support of Gay Pride Parade in San Francisco; Political Statement or Cash Motive? (VIDEO)

Last week a Burger King in San Francisco unveiled a special "Proud Whopper" in support of gay rights and the pride parade in the city.

The burger comes in rainbow packaging and once fully opened the inside reads, "We are all the same inside." This message not only represents the fast food chain's belief in the equality movement, but also tells the customer that there is no difference between a Whopper and a Proud Whopper.

In their commercial people are seen eating the burger and commenting that it is "sweeter" or tastes different. Other people feel the burger has something different about it. Patrons at the counter ask questions about the Whopper and some reject it outright while others are excited to try it out. The verdict is as stated above, all that is different is the packaging.

Many Christians and none supporters of homosexuality were outraged at Burger King weighing in on an issue instead of focusing on their food. Some feel this was just a ploy to capitalize on a touchy subject at an opportune time to make some money. The "gay agenda" is seemingly profitable for businesses who make some sort of a proclamation toward it, and bad for companies who stand against - Chick-Fil-A.

"With one of our restaurants on the Pride Parade route, it was a natural fit to be involved and celebrate by giving something back to the community," said Burger King Director of West Coast Field Marketing Kelly Gomez according to NewsBusters.

"Burger King restaurants have always been places to eat great tasting food, let your guard down and just be yourself without any judgment," said Burger King Senior Vice President of Global Brand Management Fernando Machado.

In the video someone said "A burger never made me cry before," while someone else said, "Is it a gay burger? What is it?" Within the commercial reactions were mixed but they portrayed the overall experience as positive. "Do gay people even eat fast food?" was one of the most negative comments toward the chain's promotion.

"Just for the San Francisco Gay Pride 2014, Burger King introduced a new burger: the Proud Whopper. What made this burger different? People were surprised, delighted and even a little shocked to find out. Watch the Proud Whopper unwrap for the big reveal," reads the video's description.

So what do you think of Burger King's choice to make a Pro Gay stand? Will it change your opinion of the restaurant?
