Former NFL QB Kurt Warner was recently slammed by critics for expressing his views regarding the theory of Evolution live on television.

The Christian athlete is best known for winning the Super Bowl XXXIV MVP in 2000, and has never been ashamed of sharing his faith and the Gospel of Jesus Christ publicly.

"I'm not fully buying the evolutionary theory where one species transforms into another," said Warner on the 'NFL Game Day' show featured on the NFL Network on November 9.

"But if we're talking about the idea that every species has the ability to adapt over time, well then I'm all in. As a matter of fact, I've actually seen this happen in a group I've been studying for years: NFL quarterbacks."

As a result, several people went on social media to bash the 44-year old Burlington, Iowa native regarding the analogy he used when describing Pittsburgh Steelers superstar quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's ability to adapt to various NFL defensive schemes throughout his career.

"Evolution is real!! Read a book other than your bible you jacka**!," wrote one Twitter user.

Another Twitter user echoed the previous Twitter follower's sentiments regarding Warner's religious views. "Dude, so dumb. Just shut up, Kurt. You don't know anything about evolution," wrote the second Twitter user.

As a result, the former St. Louis Rams, New York Giants, and Arizona Cardinals QB went on social media network in order to defend his Christian viewpoint and previous statement.

"C'mon, really? Plus I said I'm not buying it... Still waiting to see a monkey become human in my lifetime? You?," wrote Warner to critics via Twitter on Sunday.

"Really? What evidence do u see today of one species becoming another - even so, it was a fun fball piece, RELAX!"

Previously, Warner thanked God after being the third oldest QB to help his Cardinals team advance to the Super Bowl five years ago.

"Everybody's going to be tired of hearing this, but I never get tired of saying it. There's one reason that I'm standing up on this stage today. That's because of my Lord up above," said Warner to NFL HOF Terry Bradshaw after the Cardinals became NFC Champions on January 18, 2009.

"I've got to say thanks to Jesus; you knew I was going to do it, but I've got to do it. And secondly, I've gotta say thanks to you guys (motioning to the Arizona fans); when nobody else believed in us, when nobody else believed in me, you guys did. And we're going to the Super Bowl!"

Ironically, Warner's Cardinals team lost to Roethlisberger's Pittsburgh Steelers by a final score of 27-23 in Super Bowl XLIII on February 1, 2009.
