World famous Christian Ravi Zacharias recently bashed prominent Atheists who have mocked the Judeo-Christian viewpoint in a recent discussion regarding the issue of religious intolerance.

Dr. Zacharias is best known for defending traditional evangelicalism in various debates and discussions across the globe for over four decades in multiple prominent universities including Oxford University, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, and Dartmouth to name a few.

"They would never mock Islam, for obvious reasons, or Hinduism, for fear of being culturally prejudiced," said Zacharias to the Christian Today in an interview.

"It's ironic that people have minted millions on arguing for God's non-existence. They have a religious and evangelical fervor of their own, but their time has peaked."

Zacharias was previously an Atheist who converted to Christianity at the age of 17 after he unsuccessfully attempted to commit suicide by ingesting poison.

As a result, the now 66-year-old apologist credits his mother reading him the scripture (regarding Jesus Christ promising to give his disciples the Holy Spirit after his ascension to Heaven) at least 50 years ago as the main reason that launched his new found faith in Jesus Christ and his never ending quest for knowledge.

"...After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also...," according to John 14:19.

Zacharias revealed his purpose in debates against opposing viewpoint is not to win the debate, but to share the Gospel in a loving and logical manner.

"Apologetics is at once the most needed discipline, and the most easily abused. If it is a process of destroying your opponent, it is not biblical apologetics - it's just another power grab," said Zacharias to the Christian Today.

"It is about clarifying the truth and pointing to the relationship of a saved walk with God."

Zacharias revealed how important it is to follow Jesus' principle of loving your enemy as yourself as a way to reach out to people who do not have a personal relationship with God.

"Love is the most powerful apologetic. It is the essential component in reaching the whole person in a fragmented world. The need is vast, but it is also imperative that we be willing to follow the example of Jesus and meet the need," said Zacharias according to his official Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM) website.
