Chonda Pierce's Husband David Passes Due to Complications from a Stroke and Heart Attack; Suffered Brain Hemorrhage

Update: It has come to our attention that Chonda Pierce's husband David passed last night. The following article is the timeline of events as to what happened to David as reported before we learned of his passing - "Chonda Pierce's Husband David Needs Prayers; Comedienne's Spouse Suffers Heart Attack, Stroke, and Now has Brain Hemorrhage"

Christian comedienne Chonda Pierce has been experiencing tragedy in her family for most of July when her husband David suffered a heart attack, which then turned into a stroke and hemorrhage.

Pierce first posted about the news on July 7 on her Facebook, "Dear friends, please pray for my husband, David. He had a mild heart attack and is being kept sedated and on a respirator. Critical but better each few minutes. He needs more test and perhaps surgery - but they need him stable enough. But for now he is resting and that's so important... Thank you for your love and prayers. Our God is able to do the impossible," she wrote.

A number of days passed before Pierce posted again, and it was evident things were more serious as she was asking her followers to pray deeply for her husband. On July 13 David was not alert, but showed signs of life, "Now we wait and watch for eye movement, fingers moving, toes wiggling....signs that he's still with us!"

On the 14th she said David was taken off of all his medications and drips in hopes that he would wake up. It was then that things took a turn for the worst.

"We had some difficult news this morning. David has had a stroke in two areas of his brain. As we wait for all of the sedation to leave his body - we now wait to see how much damage has been done," she shared, "My son ha been by my side nonstop. He is such a comfort to me - this news has been particularly hard on him. He adores his father and loves him completely unconditionally. Together, we face each step with Gods grace. God knows where we are, He knows what we need and He will help us through all our days."

Over the next few days Pierce shared her concerns, worries, and candid thoughts as she struggled to deal with her ailing husband. However, she never wavered from putting her trust in God and stood firmly in believing in healing.

On July 17 and 18 David was in and out of his coma opening his eyes to certain people's voices. They just were not sure whether he was seeing anything or just involuntarily opening them. They also discovered 2/3's of his brain had been affected by the stroke and him coming out of it was taking longer than expected.

After news of a blood cot in his brain, Pierce shared an encouraging moment on her Facebook.

"We just had such a precious moment... David moved both legs. Bent his knees like he was trying to prop his feet up. Then both arms.., opened his eyes much wider than ever. And when they told him they were going to turn him over - it looked like he reached for the side rail. I am crying as I type .. Our miracle is coming, our miracle is coming!! Keep praying saints!!" she wrote.

July 19 they shut David's ventilator off and he began to respond. His eyes were open and there was "less misery" in them. Later on he began lifting his hands and leg and responding yes by squeezing people's hands. By the next day he was able to muster a whisper and ask what happened to him. He also began using his sense of humor by responding in clever and humorous ways to doctors who are trying to test his brain function.

While things seemed to be going well, yesterday David's health declined drastically as he began struggling with his breathing. Pierce again called out to God, "I praise Him that David is still alive. I praise Him for great nurses and doctors. I praise Him that I am able to find work that bears much fruit. I praise Him for my brother and sister-in-law that are always there for me. And I praise Him for this pathetic recliner that has become my home for now."

Then David had a hemophragic stroke and was bleeding in his brain. The doctors said he need surgery and even then the odds were not good.

"David is out of surgery and now we just wait and see. There was quite a bit of damage.. Removed a large portion of damaged area and there was a lot of bleeding. The surgeon said it is very serious and just not certain of anything... He is in God's hands completely now. I have loved him since I was 16 years old. He is one of the greatest men I've ever known... I have begged God to allow him to stay here - whole and healthy. Thank you for praying with me and believing for me even when my faith was tired and weak," Pierce wrote.

That was the last post from Pierce, and it is uncertain what has happened with David's condition since. Remember to keep the Pierce family in your prayers and BreatheCast will update if anything comes to light.
