NBC's "The Sound Of Music Live!" 2013: Carrie Underwood and Cast Take on Three Hour Long Live Play [Trailer]

Country superstar Carrie Underwood teamed up with NBC to bring America a three hour, live action rendition of the 1959 hit film "The Sound of Music" called "The Sound of Music Live!" The whole play will be shot and broadcast live on TV with Carrie Underwood leading the cast as Maria, the iconic free spirit main character from the original play.

There are two producers for the live show tonight on NBC, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. Meron says, "I think networks are searching more and more for the things that will attract people to watching TV as it happens. We've been looking at the direction of where appointment television was going and from our point of view it seemed the thing that was attracting the most eyeballs was live TV."

Underwood has been receiving hate mail via Twitter over the past couple months because people think that they are remaking the movie. She wants to emphasize to the public that "The Sound of Music Live" is a theater version of the movie and not an actual film.

Carrie Underwood claims that, despite all of the hate tweets she has been receiving, the whole "The Sound of Music Live" has been a great experience for her. She says, "It has definitely been fun. There's not a day that I don't look forward to coming to work. But it definitely is a challenge. I mean, this is completely out of my comfort zone."

The show will start at 8 PM tonight on NBC and will be completely live with no delay time at all.
