Carly Rae Jepsen New Album 2013: "Call Me Maybe" Singer Shares Detail About "Kiss" Follow Up / 2013 Summer Tour

Carly Rae Jepsen new album 2013 update!

Carly Rae Jepsen, better known as the girl that sang the most infectious song of 2012, "Call me Maybe" is finally letting fans in on a couple secrets about her new album set for a 2013 release date. Though the tracklist and songlist have yet to be revealed, the "Good Time" singer is warning fans to not expect a recycled version of her first album.

"I think I have a folky side in my blood from what I used to listen to with my parents, and it'll be fun to incorporate of that more in the verses of the pop songs, a little something deeper to the verses."

To help define her own version of pop music, Jepsen has listed artists like La Roux and Kimbra as major influences. Could Carly's new album have an edgier, but still catchy side similar to these artists?

"They don't do just your regular kind of pop songs. There's some stuff to hold onto and dig into."

Well put, for an artist that owes most of her success to a Justin Beiber endorsed sugary pop song.

Speaking of Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen has been in the news publicly defending her Candian comrades bad behavior as of late.

"I feel like Justin's a guy who's working hard every day, and I think the media can sometimes be a little brutal with stuff and over-exaggerate things," she said. "But I stand by him. I support him. I think he's a good guy, and he's doing the best he can."

Carly Rae Jepsen currently has a full summer 2013 tour scheduled to support her new album, a follow up to her 2012 debut smash, "Kiss".
