Call of Duty: Ghosts Multiplayer Gameplay Review: Prestige Edition and Hardened Edition / Are People Buying Call of Duty: Ghosts for the "Zombies" Game Mode Only? [TRAILER] [PHOTOS]

The newest game in the Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Ghosts, came out at midnight today and fans of the game were lining up to purchase it. The Call of Duty franchise has become the Hollywood blockbuster of the gaming world, with big explosions, and elaborate soundtrack, and a focus more on dumb fun and replayability than storytelling.

Scott Lowe from IGN.com talked about the storyline of the new Call of Duty: Ghosts game. He wrote, "The prelude establishes a harrowing vision of the United States homeland that's broken but not beaten - not quite Red Dawn, but not Fallout 3, either. It's a space not often explored by modern shooters, and its mood is heightened by missions set in a besieged Santa Monica and the wasted remains of San Diego."

The main plot points are based on South American oil barons pushing north and eventually clashing with the United States on American soil.

The new "zombie mode," which players were so fond of in Call of Duty games past, is now called "alien invasion," which is the same concepts but with aliens instead of zombies. The game is much more strategic than the zombies games ever were because the aliens are quick and unpredictable instead of slow and numerous.

The final verdict from Scott Lowe at IGN.com is a good one. He writes, "Call of Duty: Ghosts isn't a reinvention of the franchise, but proves there's still room for innovation within its existing formula. Though at the risk of overcomplicating things at times, its robust multiplayer gameplay, surprisingly fun co-op modes, and lengthy, challenging, and varied campaign makes Ghosts one the of the best Call of Duty games to date.
