BREATHEcast's Top Interviews of the Year – KJ-52, Lacey Sturm, and More had Your Attention in 2014 [INTERVIEWS]

KJ-52

In 2015 BREATHEcast is looking to spend another year providing the interviews that YOU the readers care about. Looking back at 2014, we interviewed artists, filmmakers, and others in the arts all across the board. The following five stories are our most read interviews of the year.

Our No. 1 interview of the year is part two of our four part series with Christian rapper KJ-52. "KJ-52 Believes Eminem Mentions 'Dear Slim' Letter in a Song; Grateful for Opportunity to be Christian Alternative" was one of BC's hottest articles for a week.

Some highlights of the interview include KJ-52 talking about what he believes is a shout out by Eminem in a song. KJ famously penned a song that spoke about praying for Slim Shady, and he received a lot of heat for it.

"'Hey dude you better check this out and listen to the third verse'" he explained, "A lot of stuff when you deal with celebrities, it's tempting to want to use that as a platform to get over. When all that is happening I tried to be really sensitive to that and not use this as a means to an end. So while my name was getting dragged through the mud and Christian rappers were getting at me. I just kept my mouth shut knowing what was going on behind the scenes and just let it be what it is. I made my bed I gotta' lay in it."

Clocking in at our No. 2 most read interviews is Kevin Young of rock band Disciple. "Disciple Band's Kevin Young Wants to be Unapologetically 'Bold' About 'Jesus' on New Album, and 'Not Have to Care What Anyone Thinks'" features the frontman being totally candid about the objective of the new record.

Young spoke about Christian labels, their new project, and being humbled in his career in music.

"I wanted to write a song about being bold in Jesus and not have to care what anyone thinks about it and not really asking anyone's permission and having to go through the opinion of men who don't listen to hardrock anyway. Honestly, I don't care what they think, I don't want to care anymore. Our message and our music is not for the people who don't like hardrock music, it is for the people who like hardrock music and those are the people we are appealing to."

Lacey Sturm

Our four part series with former Flyleaf singer Lacey Sturm did extremely well too. This year she released her book, 'The Reason: How I Discovered a Life Worth Living' where she opened up about her hardened life.

In part two of our article, "Lacey Sturm Found Jesus & Left Suicide, Drugs, and Homosexuality Behind; Died to Self and was Spiritually Reborn" the singer opened up more about what she thought would be the last moments of her life.

One of her more poignant quotes was: "You are the God of your own life. The problem is, we are bad Gods, and we will fail ourselves," said Sturm, "When we realize that enough times it makes for a really dark place to go to within yourself. So to filter life through there is a God who loves and created us through a purpose and wants to spread His love to others and to the world through our lives."

Kevin Sorbo

So there you have it, those are BC's top three interviews of the year. Our honorable mention is "Kevin Sorbo Says, Atheists 'Believe in Something' Why Else Would They Get so Angry Over Believers?"

Below is one of his more telling quotes.

"I tell my atheists friends 'have you ever had a gut feeling? And a voice inside your head that said I'm not going to walk down that alley, you think that was you or do you think that was God telling you not to walk down that alley tonight? You can call it a gut feeling but something stopped you" he described when reenacting one of the many discussions with some of his non-believing friends.
