The long awaited 'Blade Runner' sequel has recently picked up actor Ryan Gosling for a unspecified lead role. However, it's been reported that Gosling will star alongside Harrison Ford who will in fact be reprising his role as Rick Deckard.

"Hampton Fancher (co-writer of the original) and Michael Green have written the original screenplay based on an idea by Fancher and Scott. The story takes place several decades after the conclusion of the 1982 original. Story details, as well as Gosling's character, are not being revealed. Shooting begins in summer 2016," writes Deadline.

Ridley Scott will also be producing the sequel as he did in the 1982 classic.

While this is a very unexpected role for Gosling, it has the ability to do his career very well in testing his props in a very foreign genre.

Gosling is also in talks to star in Guillermo Del Toro's 'The Haunted Mansion' in the coming year.
