Big Bang Theory Season 7 ended with a threatening possibility that Sheldon Cooper might be leaving the show because he's no longer an employee of Caltech. While fans hope to see Sheldon in the upcoming Season 8, they can at least look forward to the looming marriages and engagements of the other characters.

Jim Parsons told E! News that the future of Sheldon is entirely up to the writers of CBS' geek drama show. He added that he himself does not know what lies ahead after the character rode the train, "I never thought of that, but you're right - he could show back up at home immediately, couldn't he? Nobody will tell me. I don't know if they know yet. They may know, but I really don't know if they do," he said.

Meanwhile, official casting for additional characters of Big Bang Theory is not yet finalized though rumors of Lisa Kudrow assuming the role of Penny's mother are circulating online. Actress Kaley Cuoco told TV Line her desire for Kudrow to portray the role, given her comic antics.

On the other hand, Simon Helberg's character remains on the dark side as writers and producers keep silent about the future of Howard Wolowitz.

Big Bang Theory Season 8 returns on CBS on September 22 at its usual time slot.
