Batman vs Superman News, Plot Rumors: Benedict Cumberbatch Addresses Martian Manhunter Reports

'Sherlock' and '12 Years A Slave' star Benedict Cumberbatch recently addressed the rumors that he would be playing as the Martian Manhunter in upcoming 'Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice' film.

"That's a fun one, I've not heard that one until tonight," said Cumberbatch to BBC, "I'm going to let that rumor run."

As of yet, the Martian Manhunter has not been officially announced that the future Justice League member will appear in the movie where Batman, Superman Wonder Woman finally meet each other (and other future members of DC Comics superhero group) for the first time in cinema history.

Like Superman, The Martian Manhunter (aka J'onn J'onzzJohn Jones) is an alien that is the sole survivor of his home planet (Mars) before arriving on planet Earth many years ago.

Some people believe the 'Star Trek Into Darkness' actor would be the perfect candidate to play as the law enforcer from Mars in the future film.

"Cumberbatch can play an amazing detective, as seen by his Emmy award-winning performance as Sherlock Holmes. He also has to feel a bit alien in nature, which he also embodies as Sherlock with his otherworldly presence and intellect. To top it all off, he has one of the most intriguing voices in the industry. This is a superb actor who can be believable as a Martian, but also bend in as a human," said Mac Charalambous in his Movie Pilot report.

The new 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' film stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Tao Okamoto, Scoot McNairy, Callan Mulvey and Oscar Award winning actress Holly Hunter.

The 'Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice' film is expected to arrive in movie theaters on March 25, 2016.
