'Batman v Superman' Cast News: Callan Mulvey Joins Cast to Portray KGBeast

Although 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is already packed with several characters, it seems more will be joining the list. A report in BirthMovies Death says that Warner Bros. has cast Callan Mulvey to portray the character of Anatoli Knyazev aka KGBeast.

According to Christian Today, although KGBeast was confirmed for the film long back, this is the first time that an actor's name has been actually related to the role. Nevertheless, the BirthMovies report further said that the character won't be the same as seen in the comics, where KGBeast is depicted as the spandex-wearing super soldier/ Russian spy.

The website also claimed that in the movie, the character is just called as Anatoly Knyazev and he is assigned as the right hand man of Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). While the character may be a cameo that can only be identified by comic book fans, it is an interesting a bonus for those who are informed.

It is reported that though KGBeast's role may be smaller in comparison to Mercy Graves (Tao Okamoto), it is very likely that he may be given a more important spot in the upcoming DCCU films, especially the 'Batman' film directed by Ben Affleck. 'Batman' is expected to release before 2020.

In the comic book, which forms the basis of 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,' KGBeast is depicted as an intelligent KGB agent with superior strength and agility and one who has fought the Batman while on a mission to assassinate 10 targets. The character even cut off his own hand with a view to escape the Batman.

Anatoli Knyazev also made an appearance in The CW television series 'Arrow,' where he is seen as an ally to Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) rather than being the distraught super villain from the comic books. In 'Arrow,' Anatoli Knyazev was Anthony Ivo's prisoner and was later freed with the help of Oliver Queen and Sara Lance.

Earlier, Callan Mulvey also featured in '300: Rise of an Empire' as Scyllias, 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' as Jack Rollins, and 'Zero Dark Thirty' as Saber.
