'Avatar 2' Release Date, Cast, Plot: Stephen Lan and Sigourney Weaver’s Characters Switching Sides?

In line with James Cameron's sequel to "Avatar," "Avatar 2," new details on the cast and release date have surfaced. These include switching side for Stephen Lan's and Sigourney Weaver's characters.

According to Chat Sports Net, Stephen Lan's Colonel Miles Quaritch is set to switch side in "Avatar 2." As per the publication, he is set to side with Na'vi in the sequel, a transition from being a villain in the 2009 "Avatar" film.

Meanwhile, Sigourney Weaver, who played the role of Dr. Grace Augustine, is set to reprise her role in the upcoming film. However, fans will see the character in the dark side, according to Variety. In this regard, the film is set to show the change of dynamics the character has with other characters, as well as to the film's entirety.

About Sam Worthington's Jake and Zoe Saldana's Neytiri, the characters are set to get married and have children, as per reports. To add, fans will see Jake as the leader of the Omaticaya clan, afteer he helped protect Pandora from humans in the first film.

Cameron himself also teased the "Avatar 2" is set to revolve about family and imprisonment. In a statement, as cited by Game N Guide, the director revealed that the it was more of a family saga about the struggle with the humans. Along with this, it is assumed that Pandora remains as the film's setting.

According to MStar News, "Avatar 2's" release has been delayed since 2014, with the writing progress as the issue. As per the publication, the film was set to be released in January; however, it has been moved to give way for "Star Wars: Episode 8," which is set to premiere in 2017.

Directed by Cameron, "Avatar 2" is slated to premiere in United States theaters in 2018. "Avatar 3" follows in Dec. 2020 while "Avatar 4" comes out in Dec. 2022.
