'Attack on Titan' Movie Release Date, Cast Latest News: Actors and Manga Counterparts Announced

Fans of 'Attack on Titan' are certainly thrilled, as the producers have just released new posters revealing the six characters in the upcoming action movie based on the anime of the same name.

In addition to releasing the posters after a prolonged lack of activity, the producers also named the actors who will be portraying these characters.

Christian Today reports that the cast of the 'Attack on Titan' live movie includes Haruma Miura, the Japanese actor who will be portraying the character of Eran Yeager, while Kiko Mizuhara, a Japanese-American singer-model, will play the role of Mikasa Ackerman, the adopted sister of Eren.

The other actors, whose names have been revealed, include popular Japanese actor Satomi Ishihara, who will portray Hange Zoe; Kanata Hongo, a Japanese actor-model, who will portray Eren's friend Armin Arlert; and Japanese actor Takahiro Miura, who will portray the character of Jean Kirstein.

Yoshihiro Sato, who is producing the 'Attack on Titan' live-action movie, recently talked about the manner in which the film's creative team selected the actors who will be portraying the main characters in the upcoming movie.

Yoshihiro said that Isayama and the remaining of the creative team were not concerned about whether the actors chosen had any resemblance to their manga counterparts. He added that all that they did was to ensure that they have "carried out casting on the basis of whether or not the actors could embody the spirit of Isayama's originals."

The story of 'Attack on Titan' has been adapted from Isayama's manga series titled 'Shingeki no Kyojin'.

The plot of the popular manga series revolves around the lives of Eren, Mikasa and Armin after they opt to join the military with a view to defeat the gigantic humanoids called Titans. These giant humanoids had ravaged the trio's hometown, and Eren also seeks revenge against them because one of the beasts ate his mother.

The 'Attack on Titan' movie is likely to hit the theaters sometime in 2015.
