'Aquaman' Movie Cast News: Jason Momoa Tapped to Play Lead Role, Four Film Appearances

Comic book fans are excited as this week some details about the upcoming 'Aquaman' movie have been revealed. So far, the cast and the release date for the upcoming film have been set. The movie will be released in July of 2018 and will star Jason Momoa as Aquaman.

For those that don't know, Jason Momoa became famous for his role as Khal Drogo on the HBO series, 'Game of Thrones'. Momoa dropped the bomb on Twitter that he is now signed on to do four movies as Aquaman. He has not said which four they will be, but there is much speculation that one will be solo feature 'Aquaman' film. There has also been a rumor that he will star in the upcoming 'Batman vs. Superman' movie.

On that note, many of the actor's fans say that Momoa is perfect for the role of Aquaman, as the superhero needs to come across as a fighter and a renegade. Some comic book fans feel that Aquaman needs to be portrayed in that sort of light, in order to bring more of a following to the classic aquatic superhero.

The DC Universe is very excited about the casting of Momoa as Aquaman. They feel that he will give the character a lot more of an edge and will bring the character into the ranks with Superman and Batman. There have been rumors that Zack Snyder will also direct this film because Momoa is such a big fan.
