Apple iPhone 7 Release Date, Rumors: Audio Jack Retained? Dual-SIM Feature?

Previous news reports have pointed out that Apple iPhone 7 would no longer feature the audio jack in order to keep with the aim to make the slimmest device yet.

However, new information have come out from Japanese website Macotakara that those reports may be premature based on the exhibits at the Computex Taipei 2016 where manufacturers showed off their lighting audio adaptors.

"It seems there has been rumors that the EarPods with Remote and Mic to be included with the new iPhone 7 series will still come with its own headphone jack as usual, and that a Lightning headphone jack adaptor will also be included in the package," the website said.

The website also reported the rumor that the base speaker for the iPhone 7 can be found on the left and right sides of the device, along with two speakers.

Of course, by this time it would be prudent not to consider the report as a news confirmation as Apple has not really provided any details on the new iPhone 7.

Meanwhile, CNET reported that news about the iPhone 7 featuring a dual-SIM capability, which would be a first for Apple.

"A dual-SIM allows a phone to handle two different numbers and profiles, useful functionality if you need to travel in different countries or want a single phone that operates separately for work and for personal," said the report.

The iPhone 7 is expected to be released this September.
