Andy Mineo Criticized for Wearing Buddha Chain in 'Paisano's Wylin' Video; Some Call it Idol Worship [SEE HERE]
Reach Records artist Andy Mineo is receiving a lot of heat from his followers on Facebook after posting a picture of himself wearing a Buddha chain for his upcoming video "Paisano's Wylin."
The New York rapper who is well known in the Christian community has been known for pushing the envelope, but according to some of his fans, Mineo went too far by wearing a Buddha necklace.
In the second verse of his new single Mineo raps, "Yo, I might just throw a Buddha round my necklace, They think paisano's wylin, that boy reckless, Cuz erryboy rockin Jesus pieces, I'm just doin what y'all doin, wearing stuff I don't believe in, Yuuup."
Although the lyrics of his song are clear as to why he would include a scene in his video with a Buddha chain, the newly married rhymer is still getting a lot of flak. Mineo posted the pic of him wearing the Buddha chain on Facebook with the caption "i might... #paisanoswylin." People immediately flooded to post with comments. "If you are a Christian ... Why are you wearing that around your neck?" one questioned.
The picture started a comment war about wearing religious apparel, some defending the rapper and others condemning his actions. "Wearing a Buddha around your neck does not make you a false idol worshipper anymore than walking into a church building makes you a Christian," another fired back.
People question whether his display "glorified Christ?" others believed that people were just being too critical. "Get mad at Andy for rockin a buddah but stay silent while unbelievers rock a cross?" one wrote.
"Just because Andy wrote a song, does not make it ok to joke about a religion that lies to billions of people to believing Jesus is not the only way to heaven," someone else wrote.
