"The Only Way Out," Andra Day's new single, got a major boost after it was included in the soundtrack of "Ben-Hur."

In a statement, the Neo-soul artist said, "The title is in reference to mercy; you can harbor this anger toward people in your life or you can forgive. The themes in the song are the same as in the movie, believing in yourself, preserving in hope and faith."

It's been a good couple of years for Andra Day after having been nominated for the Grammys for "Cheers to the Fall" and "Rise Up."

Talking about her experience at the Grammys 2016, Andra Day said that the whole moment was surreal.

"I thought of all my years of working at this, trying to do this, making music, growing and trying to establish myself," she said. "And I thought about my parents' support, and how they went with me to every singing, acting and modeling audition I did."

In November last year, Andra Day opened for Lenny Kravitz and did a duet with her idol Stevie Wonder for the Apple TV ad. Just last month, she performed at the Democratic National Convention with the likes of Alicia Keys and Fergie.

It was Stevie Wonder who was really instrumental in her music career. After perfecting her craft at the First United Methodist Church in Chula Vista, Stevie Wonder suggested that they collaborate after hearing her YouTube video on the suggestion of his wife.

Andra Day also made a music video for "The Only Way Out" which can be viewed here.
